The State of Iowa requires dairies in the 20km circle around an infected poultry site to test for influenza. To comply with this testing, here are some things you need to know.
Samples
1 bulk milk tank sample
5 individual sick/hospital pen samples
- 3-10mls total
- representing all quarters
- labeled with an official animal ID
Form
Fill out the Influenza in Bovine Form via the web portal or PDF form.
The following information must be included on your form:
- Owner and Farm name
- Farm address
- Premises Identification Number
- Herd size
- Order #
- All animal IDs from the sample tubes
Packaging
Before sealing up the box, make sure:
- All samples are labeled consecutively - #1, #2, #3...
- All individual animal IDs are listed on the paperwork
- Paperwork or Web ID is placed in the box
- Enclose a reusable icepack
