Key Measures
- The College must foster and support an environment and culture of scientific inquiry.
- The College must maintain substantial research activities of high quality that integrate with and strengthen the professional program, such as basic science, clinical science, or scholarship in teaching and learning.
- Continuing scholarly productivity must be demonstrated.
- The College must provide access to opportunities for any interested students in the professional program to be exposed to or participate in on-going, high-quality research activities.
- All students must receive training in the principles, application and ethics of research methods.
Strengths
- CVM is recognized for its One Health approach to research.
- CVM is recognized for its applied research in improving the health and well-being of livestock species, especially as it relates to infectious diseases.
- CVM is recognized globally for work in swine health, diagnostic medicine and antimicrobial resistance.
Focus Areas
- High quality research space is limited and can be a barrier when recruiting research-intensive faculty and supporting clinical faculty research.
Future Plans
- Investing in a shared core research laboratory.
- Addition of newly renovated research space when space currently occupied by the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory is vacated.
