Key Measures

  • Must maintain an on-campus veterinary teaching hospital or have formal affiliations with off-campus veterinary hospitals or other training sites
  • Physical facilities must provide an appropriate and safe learning environment

Strengths

  • The LVMC is a world-class facility that serves as the primary teaching clinical training resource
  • New VDL will serve as center for providing state-of-the-art diagnostic service, teaching & research
  • Classrooms, teaching spaces & hospital rounds have been modernized including state-of-the-art AV/IT infrastructure
  • Renovated field services complex opened in 2020

Weaknesses

  • Patterson Hall is approaching 50 years of age with growing deferred maintenance and modernization needs
  • Additional dedicated student support spaces needed
  • Additional high-quality research space needed

Future Plans

  • Renovate existing facilities including the soon to be vacated VDL
  • Exploring new spaces in the LVMC to grow new programs including oncology, theriogenology and large animal rehabilitation
  • Phase 1 of the new VDL opens in 2024 with construction of Phase 2 beginning in 2024
