Key Measures
- Must maintain an on-campus veterinary teaching hospital or have formal affiliations with off-campus veterinary hospitals or other training sites
- Physical facilities must provide an appropriate and safe learning environment
Strengths
- The LVMC is a world-class facility that serves as the primary teaching clinical training resource
- New VDL will serve as center for providing state-of-the-art diagnostic service, teaching & research
- Classrooms, teaching spaces & hospital rounds have been modernized including state-of-the-art AV/IT infrastructure
- Renovated field services complex opened in 2020
Weaknesses
- Patterson Hall is approaching 50 years of age with growing deferred maintenance and modernization needs
- Additional dedicated student support spaces needed
- Additional high-quality research space needed
Future Plans
- Renovate existing facilities including the soon to be vacated VDL
- Exploring new spaces in the LVMC to grow new programs including oncology, theriogenology and large animal rehabilitation
- Phase 1 of the new VDL opens in 2024 with construction of Phase 2 beginning in 2024
